2016-2018 EfikUSA Youth Wing Executives Bio
Samuel Archibong – President
Hello it’s Samuel Archibong your current Efik Youth President. I recently graduated from Richardson High School. First and foremost I would like to give Glory to the one and only GOD Almighty! I can’t forget my parents that have been the backbone for me none the less my family friends that have been supporting me from the start. Now I am off to Richland College for a year/or two to get my Associates Degree in Computer/Audio Engineering. I must say that I am excited, nervous, and focused for the next chapter in my life; however I am up for the challenge!
My fellow Youth Wing members have the same motives or even higher! I am pumped every year to attend the Efik Conventions. I love everything that goes along with the conventions spending time with my friends, the traditional dances, creativity with the cultural attire, and the memorable food etc. However, to the Efik’s that are hiding or have not been for a long time, please I ask that you give it a shot and attend this year’s convention ! As for my peers who have been attending I can truely say that I can not wait to see everyone’s beautiful and handsome faces! Me along with my executive board will be planning for this next year’s convention to make things memorable and enjoyable for us.
I must brag on my past team for the two years that I have been working with them, Surely I have matured along with owning up to responsibilities. Behind the scenes people may wonder what we do or plan for “just” for a “four day convention.” There are task that we assign ourselves and goals that we set for the convention to make sure things flow well while we are there. Without further or do I would like to say thank you to the Efik Youth Wing for electing me into office none the less, my executive board because you guys will accomplish what needs to be done to make things happen ; that’s to my Vice President (Chris Oyobio), Treasurer (Matthew Izevbigie), and Secretary (Mary Inyang).
Christopher Oyobio – Vice President
My name is Christopher Oyobio Jr, a sophomore at Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware. I am currently employed
seasonally for the summer at both Champs Sports and Darcars Toyota Car Dealership. In school I am studying criminal justice with a minor in Law studies. What i plan to do with that major after i graduate is to become a criminal defense attorney and open up my own business as an entrepreneur. After I attain my bachelors degree i plan on embarking on a quest to attain my law degree (J.D) and then open up my own law firm. I am 21 years of age and passionately love the game of Basketball. In my free time i play basketball, read, and write. I am a very outgoing person and as your Efik Youth Vice President myself and my board have plenty of thrilling exciting things forthcoming for our next convention! Whenever you see me don’t be shy, speak!
Mary Inyang – Secretary
My name is Mary Inyang and I am the new ENA youth wing secretary. I am a junior in high school currently enrolled in the Science and Technology program. I am a member of the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) and am the director’s
assistant of my high schools dance department showcase planning committee. I am also involved in my churches dance and youth ministry. Aside from my other roles I believe that keeping the culture of the Efik people is very important and we cannot let it go away. I believe that we need to pass it down to generations to come. With that being said, I am excited to take on this new role and ready for the experience. I hope to get a lot accomplished with the new executive board these next 2 years.
Matthew Izevbigie – Treasurer
My name is Matthew Otu Mesembe Izevbigie and I am from Houston, Texas. I am the Grand Nephew of The Obong Of Calabar, His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu-V. Right now I am the Current Efik Youth Wing Treasurer. I am going into my Senior Year of High school at James E. Katy Taylor High in Katy, Texas (a local suburb in Houston). It warms my heart to hold this title. Growing up I’ve always attended all of the Efik National Association Conventions and I’ve always had a passion since I was younger for the Efik Culture. Within these next few years as Treasure I will do nothing but improve our youth and guide them in the right direction we should follow in. It is our mission to follow in our parents and elders footsteps and continue on with our Efik Culture. We cannot and will not let this beautiful tradition die. I am Super enthusiastic for these next few
years as Treasurer for the Youth Wing and wish everyone on our youth board the best. Long Live Efik Eburutu, Long Live Efik Professionals Houston, and Long Live Efik National USA. God Bless!
