Greetings all!

ENA Youth Wing PresidentMy name is Stephen Ekeng Trimnell. I would first like to say that it is an honor and privilege to be the Youth Wing President of the Efik National Association. During my high school years, I served as both treasurer and president of my African Student Association. This new position is another level of commitment to my heritage. I am now a sophomore at St. Mary’s College of Maryland under a pre-med track, studying Biology. I am proud to be affiliated with the DC chapter, Nka Ikem Esit, which hosted the last national convention in Rockville, MD. I am thrilled to work with such a fine executive board as well as the rest of my esteemed members of the Youth Wing. I look forward to getting to know each member on a personal level so I may better understand their needs to ensure an empowered future for our Efik people. My ultimate goal is to strengthen and promote our Efik youth and culture on the national level by instilling a sense of confidence and pride in both.

In these efforts, there will be a Mr. and Ms. Efik USA competition that will spotlight our tradition and customs and feature a question-and-answer section, talent section along with an ethnic garb section. Not only will this encourage a sense of individuality and confidence, it will promote our heritage by teaching our youth to “wear our culture” with pride. This will even be amplified through the support of parents, relatives and friends. I encourage all to get our youth to participate in these events.

Lets work together now as we stimulate our youth to enhance our future; so wherever they go, they will remember where they came from. From the words of American novelist James Baldwin, “if you know whence you came, there are absolutely no limitations to where you can go.” God Bless.

P.S. If you have/know a child, teenager or even a young adult, please direct him/her to the Efik National Youth Wing page which I have set up on Facebook.

Lili Robinson’s Bio
ENA Youth Wing Vice-President
My name is Lili Robinson, and I am very honored to have been elected Vice President of the Efik National Association Youth Wing. As a resident of New Jersey, I come proudly from the New Jersey/New York Chapter. I am a junior at Princeton University following a premedical track, while maintaining a rewarding job and leadership positions within my campus organizations. I am now thrilled to be of service to the Efik Youth Wing as it’s Vice President.

I have enjoyed the experience of our annual conventions from my early childhood and am looking forward to being involved through this new capacity. My goals are to continue providing the youth with a pleasurable and informative cultural experience at each upcoming convention, and to attract more youth involvement to the organization by strengthening the youth network across the country. Not only that, but also I seek to promote the unification of our youth so that we may carry out works, such as fundraising, for the greater good of the Efik community on a continual basis throughout the year. I recognize that we are the faces of the future Efik National Association, and as such, I will put in my most dedicated efforts to shape us into the strong, forward-thinking, actively-participating leaders that the future of our culture calls for. I truly cannot wait for the two years of my term to come to fruition.

Krystal Egbuchulam’s Bio

ENA Youth TreasurerHello all. My name is Krystal Egbuchulam and I am the upcoming treasurer of the Youth Wing. I attend the Taft School in Watertown, CT and as an economically conscious person, I aspire to effectively manage our youth wing budget in a manner that will benefit the Efik youth. This year as a junior in high school, I will be looking at colleges that cater to my interest in law. While I am aware of my responsibilities as the Youth Wing Treasurer, I am a strong believer in teamwork and I look forward to working with my co-executives to make our term one to remember.

Michael Akamune’s Bio

ENA SecretaryMy name is Michael Akamune and I am your new secretary. I am excited to be the secretary of the Efik national youth wing for the 2012 term. I am a sophomore at Spring Brook High school in Silver Spring, MD. This summer I was in a summer leadership program as a junior counselor. I plan on assisting everyone in the youth wing as much as possible and I am thrilled to work with our president, Stephen Trimnell.
